New Beginnings and a Season of Light

The days are growing shorter now and the sunset keeps sneaking up on me. I am noticing the precious scarcity of daylight. I love this aspect of winter. I love the way nature reminds us to draw inward, to kindle more flames in the darkness. It has been a trying year for all of us. I don’t even have to write another sentence about how hard it has been to keep body and mind and spirit together and focused on my journey. I know you must be feeling this way too. But I am trying not to linger on the struggle. I am focused on new beginnings.

The new year is right around the corner. We have just a few weeks to formulate and punctuate our thoughts and actions for this year. My mind and heart are firmly focused on health and hope. I have witnessed the most beautiful acts of kindness this year! I have given and received so much love this year! I have never felt more certain of myself or of my role as healer, helper, mother, wife and sister in this world. There is good work to be done and I want to be a part of it.

Are you ready for new beginnings too? Are you ready to light your candles, draw inward, gather around your hearths and tables with the nearest ones to your hearts, and dream? As we enter the season of holiday meals and celebrations I urge you to keep your new beginnings in full view. Celebrate mindfully. Be present with each bite of food, with each interaction with those you love, with each step and breath you take. Take this time to ask yourself what you are ready to begin and what are you ready to nourish. Ask yourself what you are ready to shed and leave behind.

We have all been changed in 2020, like diamonds formed under the intense pressure of the earth. I am ready for the coming months to reveal my light, facet by facet. I am ready to be on your team as you uncover yours. Together we can shine brighter, day by day.

Be good to yourselves, my friends. Be good to each other. I am so grateful for you all.
