Acupuncture for TMJ

Hi friends, here's a little video of me treating a client's TMJ with acupuncture!

TMJ (Temporomandibular joint) dysfunction is a common complaint that we treat at Cornerstone Healing. Many patients present with symptoms of pain or tenderness of the jaw, difficulty chewing, facial pain, clicking sounds, grating sensations, and pain in and around the ear. The cause can be anything from stress, arthritis, trauma or an injury to the jaw, and in some cases the reason is unknown.

There is frequently a myofascial component that can be treated very effectively with acupuncture. A treatment plan usually includes using acupuncture points on the body that are local, adjacent/local and distal. Depending on the practitioner they may chose to add other modalities such as manual manipulation, electro simulation and herbal medicine.

To rule out any abnormal growth, you should always consult with your primary care physician, dentist and/or TMJ specialist.
